Launching this October, the Carine Roitfeld for Pierre Mantoux Collection Will Include 7 Styles Designed by the Famed Fashion Maven.
Elegant and charming; Seductive, yet always refined. No other adjectives are more appropriate to describe the Pierre Mantoux tights, which have been hugging and dressing women for almost a century, making them feel sexy and confident. Hence, Pierre Mantoux has decided to celebrate its 90th anniversary with an exclusive collaboration with a woman embodying all these values: Carine Roitfeld, the world-renowned fashion editor, founder of CR and her eponymous brand Carine Roitfeld. The partnership will debut in October 2022 and highlight the importance of women’s empowerment, the perfect balance between a seducing female intellect and the ability in feeling confident by wearing a pair of tights – the right tights – for all occasions.
The collection includes seven styles made for an independent woman with a strong character, who is not afraid in wearing sensual tights with a sophisticated yet feisty feel. The name of each piece is thought directly by Carine Roitfeld and recalls the inspiration behind each style: FIERCE – the audacious and proud tights, embellished with a thin back-seamed stripe culminating in a small Tour Eiffel in flock, a detail that accompanies the gaze towards the ankle; NAUGHTY – the style characterised by an all over pattern of playful small polka dots; CONFIDENT – stay-up stockings embellished with the iconic back-seamed stripe that caresses and moulds the leg, running down to the sole of the foot; BOLD – tights made of precious silk that gently envelops the skin, perfect for a casual and practical daily look; LOYAL – the style embellished with a refined gold lurex anklet motif; VERSATILE– the tights able to adapt to a thousand different styles with its faux sock motif, with 3×2 rib, which is both functional and attractive; finally, INDEPENDENT – the silk knee-highs that embrace the idea of a contemporary woman, taking inspiration from the male wardrobe.
The Carine Roitfeld for Pierre Mantoux collection campaign has been devised as a series of six self-portraits lensed by Rory Van Millingen, a frequent collaborator of Roitfeld’s for CR Fashion Book.
“By linking the notion of strength to femininity, the images show a woman who takes full control of her narrative,” says Carine Roitfeld.
Nothing is left unintended – even the packaging has been designed to celebrate the 90th anniversary and the collaboration’s visual identity. It is inspired by the same campaign and by its core photographic element. The matte coffret shows a polished picture of the product as if it were a Polaroid picture in a frame.
The craft shown through each Pierre Mantoux item is the result of constant dedication and research and a 100% made-in-Italy production because, notwithstanding the French name to provide a unique allure, Pierre Mantoux has its roots in Italy. The prestigious creativity and Italian raw materials started an extraordinary corporate history. It launched a global success, which the most significant fashion icons acknowledged, whom Pierre Mantoux distributes to.
“My greatest desire with this collection is that the women wearing these tights can feel sexy. Because you must first seduce yourself,” says Roitfeld.
Pierre Mantoux shares these values with Carine Roitfeld, a woman who has climbed up the heights of the fashion system and imposed herself as a press and digital visionary genius thanks to her work as editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris for ten years until she decided to branch out on her own in 2011. The Carine Roitfeld for Pierre Mantoux collection marks the first collaboration for the Carine Roitfeld brand and its expansion into the fashion market.
Now, Carine Roitfeld’s and Pierre Mantoux’s avant-garde vision, paired with unique taste and elegance, represent the message at best, which the brand wants to convey to its customers on such a significant anniversary.
Pierre Mantoux represents the history of an entrepreneurial family that hit success with its fourth generation. Since its inception, it has held the savoir-faire in the making of tights, knitwear, nightwear, loungewear, swimwear, beachwear, and accessories, always in front of the hottest fashion trends. Nowadays, the company is in the hands of Patrizia Giangrossi, the skilled granddaughter and creative soul, who is endowed with unlimited passion and talent, which her father and her grandfather have passed down to her, and of Chiara and Costanza, Patrizia’s daughters, who provide her with additional help.
“My grandfather was born in Mantua at the end of the 19th century. He studied in Interlaken and served as an officer during WWI. He established his company in 1932 when he purchased three 48-needles, 18-rows knitting machines in Chemnitz to work silk only. When the war ended, he dared buy a 60-needles, 30-rows machine from Pennsylvania and became the first in Italy to produce seamless tights,” says Patrizia Giangrossi, Creative Director at Pierre Mantoux.
“I have always shared the meaning of true elegance with Carine. Now she has designed a collection that translates the safety a garment can convey when it leaves no room for imperfections, fits perfectly, and realizes the dream of wearing highly technological items. Carine has shown her desire to realize sexy, elegant, timeless female items, and I supported her, contributing with the most sophisticated dynamic yarns and their softly enveloping characteristics. We both believe that this collection will be much appreciated for its metropolitan push during the day and its soft fascination in the evening,” comments Patrizia Giangrossi.
“To me, there is nothing more feminine than a pair of black tights. Together with the Pierre Mantoux team and their unparalleled savoir-faire, we have designed the tights I have always longed for. They are perfect: we have used the thinnest yarn and focused on making the utmost beauty out of every part. I love all the tiny details that make every piece in the collection so special. Whether that’s a soft Lurex yarn anklet, the detail of thicker stockings integrated within a pair of tights, a very thin line stitched on the back of the leg, or a little velvet Tour Eiffel to embellish the upper ankle, I wanted this collection to have a Parisian mood. I believe we have successfully translated this exquisite, timeless, and sexy atmosphere,” concludes Roitfeld.
The exclusive Carine Roitfeld for Pierre Mantoux capsule collection will be available at select retailers internationally this October 2022.
